Addiction Helpline

Right now, there are people all over the UK struggling with the idea of seeking help for alcohol addiction. Are you one of them? If not, do you know someone who is? Alcoholism is a terrible problem that has become all too common in modern society. That’s why Alcohol Help offers a free and confidential addiction helpline you can call right now.

We set up our helpline in response to the growing numbers of people desperately seeking help for alcoholism. We saw that need and realised the best thing we could do is offer advice, support and referrals. That is exactly what we do.

Our addiction helpline counsellors are available to speak to you or someone you love 24 hours a day. We speak to all sorts of clients including alcoholics, their family members, and concerned friends looking to somehow get involved. All of our contacts remain confidential for your protection.

Alcoholism Is Not Funny

The entertainment industry may treat alcoholism lightly, as though it was some sort of joke, but it’s not. Alcoholism is a very serious condition that can literally destroy an individual and his or her family in a very short amount of time. Alcoholism usually:

  • wrecks marriages
  • alienates children
  • destroys finances
  • ruins health.

All of these things are bad enough on their own. However, there can be additional consequences; things like the loss of a job, physical and verbal abuse, and any number of accidents resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. Alcoholism is not something anyone should be laughing about.

Help Is Available

Despite the destructive nature of alcohol dependence, there is help available through outpatient and residential programs. An outpatient program is one offered by an NHS facility or alcohol charity. These programs require the alcoholic to visit for several hours at a time before returning home. They are obviously limited in their effectiveness.

Residential programs take a much more thorough and comprehensive approach. They involve the alcoholic living at the facility throughout the duration of the program. For 6 to 12 weeks, the alcoholic goes through a number of different therapies to help him or her break their addiction and eventually live an alcohol-free life.
